Mecca’s buses stand out for their modern design, eco-friendly features, and resilience against carbon emissions.

In preparation for the annual Hajj pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia is making significant strides to ensure a seamless experience for the estimated 2 million pilgrims expected this year. The Saudi General Syndicate of Cars has announced the readiness of 21,000 buses from 65 companies to transport pilgrims during the upcoming Hajj season.

Spokeswoman Ruba Al Ghusn emphasized the thorough qualification process for these companies, ensuring operational plans are in place and buses are well-prepared. The early preparations for Hajj, set to take place in June, include meticulous planning and the launch of associated operations earlier this month.

Last year, nearly 2 million pilgrims from around the world participated in Hajj, marking a return to pre-pandemic levels. Saudi Arabia has already established rules for this year’s Hajj, with no specific places allotted for countries at the holy sites. Instead, countries will secure designated places based on the timing of finalizing contracts.

Tawfiq Al Rabiah, Saudi Ministry of Hajj, explained that priority will be given to countries that conclude early contracts, determining their appropriate places in the holy sites. The issuance of Hajj visas will begin on March 1 and conclude on the 20th of Shawwal (April 29).

Hajj pilgrims are expected to arrive in Saudi Arabia starting on the first day of Dhul Qaidah (May 9). The new mechanism aims to facilitate preparations for this obligatory Islamic duty, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and organized Hajj experience for all pilgrims.
